A promise needs consideration to be enforceable unless it does not need consideration to be enforceable…

…how sad is it that I actually understand that??

Given the dull state of my current life, a direct result of this awful thing called law school, I’ve decided to relive the joys of my past through my blog. Since my mind is far from functional when considering anything outside of the law, I make no promise of coherent recollection of facts or proper considerations of time and dates.

I think my motivation for doing this may be a lingering fear that I am losing my memory (or my mind in general)…

With this current four game losing streak, the soxx still have not clinched the wild card. Though their magic number has dwindled down to a mere one, this slide still has me concerned. In order to quell my concern in customary fashion, I turn to superstitious rituals. Generally the first step is to suit up in the alternate jersey, but that didn’t seem to work this weekend. If the slide continues, fasting will become necessary, but I do not wish to subject myself to the grueling ordeal at this point (especially considering I just did so yesterday). In the meantime, I need to find a suitable ritual to carry into the post season this year…

…and I think I’ve found my stride.

I may dislike that spending every day with people as weird as me is causing me to go insane, or that I am doing so in what feels like a rescue shelter lacking proper access to the outside world, or even that my library carrel has become my most cherished possession, but I have learned to live in a world of things I have come to despise…

…and though I may not see any light at the end of the tunnel or any fleeting moment of enjoyment in my days, I’m still committed to the self-imposed misery that is law school. I think this means I’ve hit my stride.

Most importantly, I’m not among the two 1Ls that have jumped ship thus far. My prediction: one more next week, and a handful after first semester marks come out.

It has been more difficult to convince myself to write new posts while travelling than I imagined it would be… This is not to say that it has been difficult to write, as I have been doing much writing since I finished the only book I brought along.

If anyone is curious where I am or have been, I am currently in Krakow, Poland. I have been through Spain, Croatia, Bosnia, Italy,  Slovenia, Hungary, and Austria as well. On Tuesday I will leave Katowice for Kyiv. However, after Kyiv I have no idea where I will be going. My choices are the UK, Prague/Germany, or Odessa/Istanbul. Maybe you have some advice for me? Leave it in the comments if you do!

Also, if you could give me advice on my life when I return that would be great – should I move to Boston or stay in Minneapolis for three more years? Please leave your solution to my life in the comments as usual…

I am in Trieste right now and am loving it. Loving it so much that I don’t want to write on my blog.

I realise I haven’t posted much in the past few months, but I feel my reasoning is adequate – my life was pathetically boring and, although I’m pretty sure less than a handful of people read this blog, I feel somewhat obligated to only publish semi-interesting content =P

Any way, I’m leaving for Madrid in seven hours and then travelling across Europe, so expect to hear from me a lot in the next two months…

-Mates of State – ‘Help, Help’

Apparently it’s the week of Christmas… I’m not sure where it came from though. Although I haven’t done any preparations, I am not worried – today should be my final day of work before a lengthy holiday break.

Still, my lack of time ambition and sincere effort has left me with much to do over this ‘break.’  I’ve been reading a good deal of T.S. Eliot recently and I couldn’t help but steal borrow the title of this post. I’ve just recently realised that my life has carried little anxiety as of late… and it has been terrible. I used to wonder ‘how can people with all the time in the world accomplish nothing?’ I am no longer left to wonder; I’ve realised that action is the product of urgency. In the end, stress and anxiety merely facilitate the mind’s enterprise.
