I know this is old news, but I’ve been traveling for the last week and a half… so lay off me. I’ll try to make up for my lack of posting this week.
I only went to the first day of Lolla, but I wish I would have caught the rest of the weekend, especially What Made Milwaukee Famous. Oh well, there is always Austin City Limits
Plus, I was leaving for Boston, so who am I to complain…
It was a beautiful day at Grant Park, evident from my stunning photography (hah!).
Anyway, here is what I caught and my thoughts:
Manchester Orchestra – waited for over an hour to get in… huge line wrapped around Grant Park, only caught a song or two
The Go! Team – pretty good live show – Ninja, the lead chick, is like a little kid on red bull. Btw, there is a Hot Chip Remix of Ladyflash on the single that is worth checking out.
Louis XIV – just OK… he was wearing a suit and it was effing hot out, felt warm just watching…
Mates of State – my favourite of the day… not too many people so I stood close. They are definitely talented and enjoy what they are doing. I listened to them over and over while I was in Boston – I’m almost sick of them now… If you haven’t listened to them, please do so… for me
Bloc Party – underwhelmed by their performance – but then again I was expecting way too much. They were on at six, but it would have been better if it were dark… plus they were on the huge AT&T stage – it was hard to feel the energy… Nonetheless, I love Bloc Party and I enjoyed it.
CSS – a lot of energy, same with the crowd – pretty good live show
Radiohead – absolutely packed… again, would have been better if it were dark the whole time. When it was, their set was pretty cool. I guess I am just not that into Radiohead… at least not as much as those who got in at 11:30 and sprinted to their spots at the AT&T stage
…I love music festivals
